That's all,folks!

I can't believed I completed 23 Things. I enjoyed exploring and discovering new sites I haven't heard or haven't used before. The hours I spent on most questions is more than the 45 minutes needed to complete. I find that I worked best at home where I have no interruptions. I don't know if I will use some of the websites but I know that I have more choices now. It has been a very rewarding experience for me and I am looking forward to another 23 things or less.

Netlibrary and downloading audiobooks

Reluctant teens will find downloading books another way to "read." Not all books are listed, but quite a few of the best sellers are included in that list. Downloading books is another option for people with reading disabilities who now have more titles to choose. I signed up for MCPL netlibrary and find the instructions easy to follow.

iTunes-podcast

We downloaded lots of music to the ipod using iTunes. It was easy enough that I can follow and download my favorite CDs to my ipod and listened without the spouse screaming at me to turn down the music. Thanks to the ipod, I don't have to hear anyone unless they pulled the earphone from my ears.

I liked podcast.com which is what came up when podcast.net failed. I enjoyed browsing through foodpodcasts.com. I mustn't forget to add bookpodcasts.com as well.

You Tube

I find this site very useful in instructional and entertaining from viewers who want the world to share their videos. For example,I learned the proper way of using a Neti pot to clean out my stuffy nose. I didn't think there would be anyone willing to demonstrate the use of a neti pot, but I was wrong. There are good, bad and excellent videos that the viewer can choose. I find that YouTube is a good visual aid to describe a word to someone who may not understand what I'm trying to say. Example: enthusiastic applause.

Web 2.0 Award Winners

Web 2.0 award winners I am familiar with and have used: google maps, zillow, craigslist, and two that I haven't used until recently: Delcious and ImCooked. I like visuals when it comes to cooking and I like to see how the end products comes out. I used zillow to check out how the prices in my neighborhood is faring..not good, craigslist to look for stuff, and google maps because I have a bad sense of direction when driving. I will definitely check out the other sites.

Spreadsheet heaven

I haven't used the spreadsheet application in google docs until this exercise and find that it's so much easier to use than Excel. I have my Christmas spreadsheet in my google account which is much easier to find. The document features easy to use and I enjoyed the instructional video on sharing documents. I also went to Zoho Writer to check out their site.

Maryland Libraries Sandbox Wiki-NOT-Thing 17

After numerous tries before and after my overseas trip to Japan, I GIVE UP on Thing 17th. I tried with help from my good friend,MB, but I still couldn't get into the sandbox. It takes a lot for me to admit DEFEAT, but I am defeated. It's time to move on and finish up the 23 things exercises before 2010. Bah!

Let's wiki.

I enjoyed looking at the Bull Run Library's website where I read the wikis for community events and local news. I would like to see wikis at the MCPL website for community events. Currently, we have teen and adult recommendations on line. I think we should give blogging a chance. Will there be more readers blogging about their books? I enjoyed reading blogs about librarians and teen programs from other bloggers.

I also read the official wiki site of the ALA conference. I like to see additional"official wiki" sites to other events.

My Two Cents on Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the Future

I read the two articles from Michael Stephens and Rick Anderson. I agreed with Mr. Stephen's article that the "library is human."

I agreed with the author that "the world and library users changes with advancing technology." However, people still come to the library to borrow materials, participate in a book discussion, read a newspaper or magazine as well as research for materials on-line which may need the services of a librarian.

The MCPL database has included blogs, tags and links for patrons who are interested in seeing what the libraries offered. For example,I wished computers were available and I can check out the "Teensite" when I was in middle and high school. There are links to ask-a-librarian", a reference service and "askusnow", a 24 hour live chat service. These are the same teens who also want a recommendation of a book from a librarian.

This concludes my two cents.

Technorati and blogs from fans with little or no authority and experts.

I did a keyword search for "learning 2.0" in blog posts, tags and the blog directory. I find that the results are different when I clicked on the box that listed bloggers with some, little or a lot of authority. Very interesting. The numbers get smaller when I used the blog tags.

I'm still in shock to see several women celebrities are among the top searches by bloggers. On the other hand, I enjoyed checking out the links of the top 100 blogs by fans and also the top 100 blogs by bloggers with authority.

Much as I liked exploring Technorati, I did not signed up as a new member. I found myself a little overwhelmed although I enjoyed looking at the videos and tags on food.

Del.icio.us delicious.

I enjoyed tagging and bookmarking my delicious account as well as using my own keywords. I made a file of my young adult collection and I enjoyed seeing what other users have said about the same books I have read or planning on reading. I added the Librarything and Montgomery county Teensite to my bookmarks.

Roll over, Rollyo

I worked on this Thing for a LONG TIME because it takes a LONG time to get to the site. I am not happy with this website ,even after my good buddy helped me with this THING. Here is the link for all the "Ugly Betty" episodes. Why "Ugly Betty?" I love NYC and the people who make it or trying to make it in the Big Apple.

meez yogibetty

Meez 3D avatar avatars games

Meez was fun, but too much work was involved! There were plenty of choices to choose from. I was planning on putting the character Meez Yogibetty in a sitting meditation pose. However, I didn't feel serene after I almost completed this assignment. The outfits and accessories I wanted for her costs money and you noticed that she isn't wearing any shoes.

Library Blogs and NewsFeeds

Our own teensite has some great blogs as well as other library teen sites. I liked to know what teens are now reading and what they liked or don't like about the book.

I haven't read all the newsfeeds I have in my google account on a regular basis. I enjoyed reading my two favorite newspapers first before I go into my computer to read email and then check out the newsfeeds. There's a plus to reading the newspapers where you can bring it to the sofa and then falling asleep while reading.

Play around Library Thing

I decided to skip to week 5 to work on my library thing account. I just added about 50 books to my new account. I had an old account but I don't remembered the user name or password. This is great since I can barely read the handwritten reviews in my notebooks. Library Thing has the photo of the book and reviews from other people. I just spent another hour in this site alone!

RSS feeds and Bloglines account or Thing 8, part A

I'm back........... I finally finished reading all the teen reviews (on-line) and trying to read (handwritten) reviews before I can think of working on 23 Things.

I already have a google account and used the Reader link to read the RSS feeds that I was interested in. Do I want to sign up for Bloglines (now owned by Google)? Why not? I had to limit my interests or be on the computer all day reading. The eyes are going....

Flickr fun

I played around with the flickr website and was able to upload my dog photo! Yeah! Easier the second time around. This is a great site if I want to be more creative with my photos. I also enjoyed viewing some of the wonderful photos that viewers have sent.

yogi techie?

It took me years to learn how to use the VCR before I finally got the hang of it. Too late, my husband decided to get digital recording equipment. I have to start again from step 1. GRRRRR. However, I do embraced the digital cameras and enjoyed clicking away and downloading them into my computer. We also have Skype to talk to our friends and family.

7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifetime Learners

My favorite learning habit is #7 1/2 since I am always willing to play. Just kidding. I do like problems and I view them as challenges. Some challenges are not solved, but I tried to view them as a learning experience. I also don't ever see learning with an "end" in mind. I'll be learning until the very end of my life. Who knew I would wind sitting quietly in meditation during yoga?

23 things I need to know

Okay....I am ready to learn 23 things after reading about it and hearing how wonderful it is from my good buddy-smilin68. It is a good thing we have an entire year to learn this program, but I'm ready! Me, a blogger?
